Kona

Kona sits on the big island in Hawaii also known as, Island of Hawai'i. The big island largest and most volcanically active with its volcano, Kilauea.

Driving from the airport to our hotel, it was easy to see volcanic rock along the road. One of the pilots told us legend has it that if you take piece of volcanic rock from the island you’ll have bad luck.

He even had an example with a pilot who’d taken a rock and his life went to crap. According to him the other pilot returned it real quick.

For dinner a few of us flight attendants ventured out from our hotel in Holualoa. We just started walking down the street along the water and it was easy to find a place to eat.

We found a restaurant on the water and were lucky enough to see whales at one point. Whenever I get the chance to layover in Hawaii my go-to drink is no doubt a Pina Colada and I've never had one that disappoints.

On our walk back to the hotel we stopped at an ABC store. These are more or less convenience stores but their freshly packaged foods you can buy are sooo much better than anything you can find on the mainland.

The sunset we saw on our walk back to the hotel was the most stunning I’ve seen yet. I took videos and pictures galore and after witnessing it vowed I would someday return to Kona. I haven’t gotten the chance to yet but I can’t wait.
