Madison

Wisconsin State Capital in Madison.

Wisconsin State Capital in Madison.

First off I’ll start by saying, every flight attendant has a hotel or two that’s their favorite and they’ll jump at the chance to get a layover there. Mine happens to be in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Edgewater hotel we stay at sits right on Lake Mendota. During the winter there’s an ice skating rink right out front and every room has a robe which seems to be my weakness when working.

It’s an easy walk up to the Wisconsin State Capital building which is gorgeous and surrounded by restaurants. Having gone to another Big 10 school in the midwest, I always have a sweet spot for a good college town. I love spending time walking through campus and seeing other school’s stadiums. One thing I love to do, being a former sorority girl, is find the Chi Omega house in these college towns.

And I mean how do you beat cheese curds in Wisconsin. A couple of other flight attendants and I went up to The Coopers Tavern which sits right in front of the capital. They had a wide selections of beer which was great for me considering I’m not the biggest fan. But give me a beer that kind of tastes like donuts and I’ll have two.

As long as I don’t have to be back at the airport too early in the morning, I always make time to get up early and walk along the lake in the morning. Nothing quite beats a beautiful sunrise, not even an extra hour of sleep (usually).
