Marco Island
Even if my life seems like a vacation with constant travel and layovers, it really is nice to get an actual vacation. My mom and I had ourselves a little girls long weekend in Marco Island, Florida.
We drove down about an hour from Fort Myers to Marco Island. It was my first time there and my mother being the seasoned traveler she is had been there before. Our hotel was lovely and luckily we got a view of the pool and beach from our room balcony.
Being the seasoned travelers we are we grabbed cheese, snacks, pre-made salads, and maybe a little wine on our drive down. It’s always great to have the option of eating on your balcony instead of always shelling out money at hotel restaurants.
We spent our days at the beach with a little wine in our mugs, as one should. The hotel had chairs set up already and if you went to the little beach hut you could have them set up an umbrella for you.
Once we were ready for a little cool down, and I was too dramatic to go deep in the ocean, we headed to the pool. What’s better than a little rum in the pool?
We spent one of our nights on a sunset cruise through Sunshine Tours. During the tour you had the option of dinner on the boat or just enjoying the view with some drinks. We opted to just enjoy the view with a cocktail.
The cruise was a gorgeous way to experience Marco Island. Safe to say we enjoyed our time on the boat and you better believe we made sure to snag the best seats.
If we’re going to splurge on a nice dinner out of course we’re going to pick the hotel’s restaurant that’s on the beach.
We opted for Quinn’s on the Beach and without even trying we timed it just right enough that we got to enjoy fire dancers, too.
Leaving Marco Island was no easy goodbye. Traveling for a living I’d like to think I’m able to realize a great vacation, and this sure was one.
